Theories that i will use in my Documentary

One of the theories that I am going to use in my documentary is Claude Levi’s theory of Binary Opposition theory. The reason why I am going to be making use of this theory is I am trying to make people realise the facts behind their opinions of Teenagers, so my first Binary Opposition will be Opinion vs. Fact. My second Binary opposite is going to be Young vs. Old when it comes to people’s opinions of teenagers and what it means to be a teen.

The second theory that I am going to be using is Vladimir Propp’s Character theory. Propp figured that the same characters appear in every film or program just under a different name and with a different face. In my documentary I am going to have the parental figure in the form of the two people I interview from the 80’s and the 50’s. I will also be using the idea of a mentor who on screen will be I as I am there to guide the audience through different people’s opinions and tell them the facts about teenagers and dispel the myths surrounding teens.
